Trampoline Fun!

Makenna's first time on a trampoline. She loved it. I think we spent an hour on it. Her cousin Mason was having fun jumping around her.

Pictures of Cousin's!

You can't tell from the picture, but we are actually trying to get all of the kids to get in a picture with Grandma. Obviously, it didn't work.

Is this a glimpse of the future? Dr. Lilly? Sounds good to me

Mae & Makenna

Traveling is SO MUCH FUN! NOT!

Well I just returned from a trip to Peoria to visit my sister's. Makenna has 4 cousin's that live there. It's fun to see her interact with them now that she is getting older. She figured out how to say Mae while she was there. Even though it sounds like, "Me"
Traveling is always a pain with my child. She doesn't sleep long in the car. And that could be because we live in the city where things and places are no more than a 20 minute drive, so she really never has the opportunity to fall asleep. Plus, we don't travel a ton. Also, she sleeps horrible away from home. Every time we stay somewhere other than home, we have problems putting her to sleep and her staying asleep all night. For example, Saturday morning at 1:45am till 4:15am, my daughter was awake and playing in her pack and play. She doesn't like sleeping in a pack and play, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I won't let her sleep with me because she thinks the bed means play time and space to roam around. It's very aggravating because I know when I go away from home I get very little sleep and Makenna is always on edge. Also, it seems like every time I go away from home, she gets sick. She usually runs a slight fever. Last time, I was in Peoria for Christmas, her molars were coming through and she was quite the pill. This time, I'm not sure if she is really sick or if she just doesn't do well at other places. It's a mystery to me. She's also going through a separation-anxiety stage with me right now, so every time I would leave the room, she would freak out. Oh, the joys of being a mother, and figuring out our children. I guess I will never really figure her out. I'm like 1 for 9 with visits to the doctor for ear infections. It's very, very frustrating. You just never know. I guess we'll see how sleeping goes at home over the next few days.

So entertaining!

WE find it quite entertaining to watch our child
make herself so dizzy, she can't stand up straight.
It gives us a good laugh, and everyone needs that
every once in a while.

Spinning in circles

Makenna's newest discovery is spinning around in
circles. She loves to do it. It cracks us up!

An Earthquake in Illinois?

You know what I find crazy? That fact that we lived in California for 3 years and never felt one earthquake. Well at 4:48am this morning, we were waken by our glass sliding closet doors shaking and rattling and our bed vibrating. Kind of scary and so surreal. We looked at each other in confusion and said, "do you think it was an earthquake? "Immediately, Brett was thinking is the world coming to an end. Well we found out later this morning that indeed it was. We felt the shocks of a 5.2 earthquake that happened 200+ miles south of us. Wow, we are still in shock! But something we will never forget. You think God is trying to get somebody's attention? I do! I hope your heart, mind, and soul was listening!!

Cubs Win

We left in the 8th inning, but as you can see from the score, it was a great game to watch.
GO CUBS!

Great Story

So we're at the Cubs Game and Brett somehow sits us in the wrong seats. We realize it not too long in the game but decided to stay where we were until somebody kicked us out of their seats. Well in the 3rd inning, we were kicked out of the seats and found our real seats. We also had to move people out of our real seats. So we're sitting there and I get this tap on my shoulder and this man says, "Hey, you better behave yourself!" We all turn around and it's our Pastor Dale from our church EFCN. Small World, huh?

Great Weather at Wrigley Field

Cubs Game

We went the game with friends from church, Nate and Qiana Drye. Weather couldn't have been more perfect. And you got to love the food. Italian sausages,Italian Beefs, Jumbo Hotdogs, fries, Lemonade, Cotton Candy. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. We had a great time.

My First Cubs Game

Brett was a little nervous to take me to the game because my last experience at a baseball game wasn't so great. When we were dating, Brett took me to a White Sox game. Keep in mind it was in August, in the middle of the day. Well I was way overdressed and got VERY HOT. Which made me very moody, and uncomfortable so I complained a lot. The sun was beating down on me, and I just got very hot. Well after that game, he pretty much said he would never take me to another baseball game. Well I guess I redeemed myself because we went to the Cubs game and I had a great time. The time of year and weather definitely helped. It was also an evening game which made a huge difference. Also, our seats were shaded.

Sunday Smile

I got a quick picture of Makenna in her Sunday church dress. She was in quite the good mood.

Daddy's Home

This has become an evening ritual when Brett
comes home from work. Makenna wants him to
chase her around the house. It's fine with me
because he just wears her down before bedtime.
It cracks me up just watching them. I hope it brings
a smile to your face as well.

Body Parts

Makenna has known her body parts since she
was 13 months old. But I finally caught her on
video.

I'm learning new words everyday!

My Sweet Girl

"Mommy, stop taking pictures of me!"

Look at my smile!

Bubbles, Bubbles!

Makenna got a Bubble Machine from her Great Grandmother Lilly for Easter. We both love this thing. It's a hippo and it's mouth opens and blows out bubbles. No more blowing bubbles from a stick. YEA!!!! The great thing is this machine lets out SO MANY bubbles and hardly uses any solution. It's going to last all summer. I'm excited about that because Makenna is at the stage where bubbles are fun and entertaining.

Grandma Polly & Makenna

Taking a stroll with Grandma Polly

Brett had to fly back to Target Headquarters in Minneapolis this week for some training seminars so his Mom came out to stay with Makenna and I. Makenna was so good with her. Polly had severe back problems this winter and had to walk with a cane and couldn't hold or lift Makenna. But as you can see from the picture she is doing much better and I really feel they bonded this trip. Makenna kept asking Grandma where her cane was. Even though it sounded like this, "tane, tane." I'm glad Makenna is getting this time with Grandma Polly because in May she is going to spend a whole week at Grandpa & Grandma's house while we are in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Swinging with Daddy

Last fall, Makenna loved the swings. Baby swings of course. We could have spent hours at the park just swinging. Well she couldn't do a whole lot because she was only crawling at the time. But this past weekend we went to the park for the first time and put her back in the baby swing and she freaked out on us. Totally scared of it. But she did agree to swing with Daddy. Even though the whole time she had this terrified look on her face.

Lovin' the Slide

We had a 60 degree day on Sunday and went to the park. I can't wait for the weather to warm up because we will be at the park everyday. It's so close and convenient and I'm excited about the new exploring and things Makenna will do this summer. Well, we know she likes the slide.
